Kamau, you are not old. Until you go to a thrift store and purchase coat you had donated 3 weeks ago, you’re still a young man. Btw, I did find my keys.
Understandable. But luckily it isn’t gross. The New Yorker investigated him for lying on his stand-up comedy act. Which is a weird expenditure of resources if you ask me. He made a video to respond to them. He is still on the road selling out shows, but it sounds like it cost him the Daily Show gig.
I found it a fascinating rabbit hole to go down, mostly because there are no black and white answers and the whole debacle raises interesting questions re: the art of storytelling, what counts as emotional truth writ large, how storytelling differs from standup, the role of infotainment in our culture, etc. But I don't think Hasan Minhaj created the problem or is guilty of much, and the journalist who wrote the exposé isn't perfect in her reporting or storytelling, either.
As for Jon Stewart, I would have liked it more if he were funny. It was kind of hit or miss.
As for the election, jeez people, it's obviously going to be a binary choice! Which one do you want? And none of this 3rd party nonsense--the best ever showing of a 3rd party was 16% of the popular vote. Who was the candidate? George Wallace. Nuff said.
I don’t hate fame. I just have to do the math when I’m out in the world. As I said, I worked hard for this. You just can’t predict all the parts of it.
As far as Jon Stewart, humor is obviously 100% subjective. I’m not arguing over that. I just respond to the feeling of “I hope he is ready for the next four years, because it is going to be roooooough!”
It’s really the song plus the mass amounts of people in the video. I love Bowie, and the mass of humanity getting together to play makes me feel good. Song is rebel rebel.
I am LIVING for the Groundhog musical by @OliverSongs. Dozens of people have duetted and stitched his original song. The creativity, the camaraderie and the silly joy of it all is the antidote for the anxiety and fear that the rest of the world keeps evoking in me.
How Deep is Your Love-PJ Morton featuring YEBBA(this song is a revelation for me and it just makes me feel good)
My Sweet Lord- George Harrison
We Can Work It Out-Stevie Wonder version
A Change is Gonna Come- Sam Cooke
Sweet Home Chicago-Magic Sam
And, of course, Just a Friend- Biz Markee
I'm very happy to see Jon is back and had no problem with his take on Biden. I felt him, too. I'm old, I'm tired, I don't think I would be up to four years at that job. Biden did a great disservice by not (voluntarily) being a one term president. But especially me because I have high blood pressure and I don't know if I can take the next nine months.
Hey Kamau, this is excellent about the MOM's! As I have said on many occasion - women must take the lead! Thank you for this! Why we are a MINORITY is an abomination to God Herself.
I agree with you about crowds/protests - must be very vigilant. A crowd is a mind. But, like it happened you met people you needed to meet. Wonderful! Risk is a necessary choice.
Emotional Support Songs:
Angry - Rolling Stones
It Never Went Away - Jon Batiste
Found Tonight- Lin Manual Miranda & Ben Platt.
Grateful for your voice. It makes me think and believe I can take some meaningful action even when the math is so bad .

🤣
I missed the Hasan Minaj thing. I love him. I don’t know if I even want to Google it.

CREEP - by RADIO HEADS
Love singing that song too
Dude. I'm old. :D
67 and you're a (charming) whippersnapper. It's that perspective thing but 'I'm not dead yet" *apologies to Monty Python
FAME!
Dontcha hate it? I do.

Math was never my favorite subject. New math is even worse.
I am so glad I subscribed! Thank you!
No matter how many times I hear fast car it makes me want to work harder and yes, wonder where the years went.
This is my go-to lately. I hope it's viewable because it's hard to describe.

Looking forward to reading Moshe's book.

YES! To JON STEWART Returning!
Wow. They have nothing better to do?
Idk if they're comfort songs, but they're what came to mind lol!:
The W.A.N.D. by The Flaming Lips (I think this was my shout anthem in the car during Trump's reign lol!)
It's a Good Day (to Fight the System) by Shungudzo
Oh the maths we all gotta math when I'm not even good at math . . . 😂😭
Jon Stewart was a breath of fresh air for saying what so many of us are thinking! Being able to laugh about it is emotional support!
Song- Tail Lights by Macklemore ft Morray
